The problem
Intervention: Tailored retention interventions targeting at-risk groups based on age, residence, ART regimen, and facility type (as identified by survival analysis of predictors)
Who it was tested with: Adolescent girls and young women (aged 15-24 years) with HIV in mainland Tanzania with inconsistent viral load suppression results.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Survival analysis techniques were employed to estimate attrition rates and identify predictors among AGYW with inconsistent viral load suppression results." This study identifies risk and protective factors through retrospective analysis but does not test whether implementing targeted interventions based on these factors improves retention in care.
This is an observational study identifying associations with attrition but not testing an intervention. It does not evaluate whether implementing targeted interventions actually reduces attrition. The study uses secondary data and cannot account for unmeasured confounders.
