The problem
Intervention: Vaccination against 10 National Immunization Program vaccines in children with medical conditions
Who it was tested with: 24,966 children with medical conditions in Shandong Province, China.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"In a multicenter retrospective study of 24,966 children with medical conditions, the median coverage of 10 National Immunization Program vaccines reached 97.33%, whereas timely completion was 89.21%. Children with brain, immune, or congenital disorders exhibited significantly lower vaccination coverage than those with other medical conditions." The study measured vaccination outcomes across a large population of children with medical conditions, identifying disparities by condition type.
Retrospective design cannot determine causation; limited to one Chinese province; does not explain reasons for differential coverage by condition type or delays post-diagnosis
