The problem
Intervention: A peer educator program focused on reproductive health for the prevention of child marriage
Who it was tested with: 70 students at SMA Negeri 13 Makassar, Indonesia (35 intervention, 35 control).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group was employed." This design includes a comparison group, and the gain scores did not differ significantly between groups, so the program showed no added benefit.
Small purposive sample from one school; self-reported questionnaire measures; no data reported on actual child marriage; short-term outcomes only as far as the abstract shows.
