Abstract
Anxiety is a prevalent mental disorder in the Philippines, particularly among students. Therefore, understanding and addressing its risk factors in this vulnerable group is crucial. This review analyzed 283 records from four databases, ultimately extracting 28 studies that examined anxiety among Filipino students. The findings showed that the prevalence rate of anxiety among students ranged from 11.90% to 82.89%, which is at least twice the rate found in the Filipino general population. Factors influencing anxiety include biological factors like age and family history. It was also found that psychosocial aspects influence anxiety among Filipino students, such as living conditions, financial difficulties, and social support, and personal factors like self-efficacy and social media use. Overall, this review emphasizes the urgency of addressing anxiety among students, conducting further research, and tailoring mental health services to respond to the unique factors influencing student mental health.
