Abstract
Parental involvement has an irreplaceable and vital impact on early childhood development. Based on the theory of biological ecosystem and overlapping spheres of influence, this study views early childhood development as the result of the interaction between the family environment and individual genetic qualities and examines the moderating effect of demographic factors in the influence of parental involvement on early childhood development. The study found that the impact of parental involvement on the early development of children of different ages, genders, and only/non-only children varied to different degrees and thus proposed differentiated strategies for parental involvement in the early parenting of groups of children of different ages, genders, and only/non-only children. The aim is to promote the realization of ‘tailor-made education’ at the group level, to care for and help disadvantaged children and their families, and to help reduce the intergenerational transmission of poverty.
