Abstract
Maternal and child undernutrition among the tribal population are the major health concerns. The study assessed maternal and child undernutrition and their interrelationship with sociodemographic factors. This study involves a total of 215 pairs of mothers and their under-five children. The prevalence of maternal undernutrition was 49.3%, and child malnutrition in the form of wasting, stunting, and underweight was reported at 28.4%, 33%, and 31.2%, respectively. The findings highlight a significant (p < .05) association between the maternal and child nutritional status with socio-demographic factors, such as maternal education, household economic status, and maternal occupation patterns, that are emerging as key determinants.
