Nila Fitria ·
Summary
Written by AI, not yet AICS's view · claude-sonnet-5-5This qualitative study describes how kindergarten teachers teach literacy using what the authors call 'smart teaching'. It looks at problems children have with recognising and writing the alphabet and with reading. Data came from observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Teachers used several kinds of media, including the Kids Academy digital application, to give children ways to explore, experiment and express themselves. The authors say effective literacy teaching should involve open communication, parents, a positive environment, and rewards and consequences for children.
Key points
- The literacy problems identified were recognising the alphabet, writing the alphabet and reading.
- Teachers used smart teaching as a means of exploration, experimentation and self-expression for children.
- Various media were used, including digital media through the Kids Academy application.
- Smart teaching is expected to involve open and effective communication, parent involvement, a positive environment, and rewards and consequences.
Limitations
The abstract does not name the country, the number of teachers or children involved, or any measured effect on children's literacy. As a descriptive qualitative study it cannot show whether the approach improves literacy outcomes.
